[Classes 108 (i) and 108 (ii).] In hand-trucks in which the load carriage is capable of longitudinal movement relatively to the truck wheels, the latter are mounted on rollers adapted to roll in the side girders of the truck frame. As shown in Fig. 1, the load support 9 is clamped to the frame 1, 2 and the wheel carriage comprises an axle 12, Fig. 3, adapted to slide longitudinally of the frame by means of rollers 16, 17 engaging in the frame girders 1, 2 and carried by cheeks 13, 14 and centre part 15. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement wherein the wheel carriage 13, 14 slides in the frame by means of rollers 21, 22 under the control of a spring 24 and the wheel carriage may be held in any adjusted position by a rod 26 which may be clamped to the handle 6. The wheel carriage may incorporate suspension springs 28, 29, Fig. 8, and a support or prop 32 having a wheel 33 may be pivoted to the wheel carriage at 31 which prop may have a primary spring 35 to urge the prop into the position shown to keep the truck upright when at rest and also to brake the pivotal movement of the prop incidental to the movement of the wheel carriage. A secondary spring 39 is attached to a link 37 pivoted to the prop and to the frame. Locking bars may be provided to retain the wheel carriage in either of its limiting positions.
