[Class 141.] A parachute harness comprises a U-shaped suspension strap which is adapted to pass under the seat and upwards in front of the wearer, the upper ends being adapted to be attached to the parachute shroud lines, and leg straps and shoulder straps connected to the suspension strap, their free ends being adapted to be interconnected by means of a common locking device, upon operation of which the wearer may free himself instantaneously from the harness. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a U-shaped strap 1 is stitched to leg straps 3, 4 and shoulder straps 2, the leg and shoulder straps being connected by a locking device 5. The leg straps space apart the seat portions of the suspension strap 1 and shoulder straps 2 and are bent around the lower portions of the strap 1 before being connected to the device 5. Buckles 8, 9 are provided for adjusting the length of the leg straps. The straps 1, 2 are interconnected near the top by adjustable buckles 6, 7. Cross straps 10 and a piece of cloth 11 give support to the wearer. In a modification shown in Fig. 2, the shoulder straps are crossed at the back and, with the suspension strap, form loops through which the leg straps pass before connection to the locking device. Loops 12, 13 are provided on the shoulder straps through which the suspension strap passes. Straps 14, 15 passing from the shoulder straps along the side of the wearer constitute additional supports. Elastic means 16, 17 are provided for preventing the locking device 5 from falling forward.
