Abstract
417,467. Aerials. BLAW-KNOX CO., National Bank Building, 5th Avenue, Pittsburg, U.S.A. April 5, 1933, No. 10242. Convention date, April 6, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] A mast for use as an aerial is supported on insulators at three or more points with freedom of movement thereon, and is anchored to the ground within the area enclosed by the points of support. The insulator supports 4, 5 are disposed in the line of the corner supports 6 and consist of truncated cones of refractory material loosely connected together by a dowel 9, Fig. 3. The anchoring device, Fig. 4, is formed of alternate metaltension and porcelain-compression members 23, 19, respectively, a turnbuckle 27 being used to regulate the pull on the mast. In a modification, Fig. 8, the pull on the mast is adjusted by tension rods 39 attached to the anchoring point 3 and to an insulated cap 37 supported by an insulator 28 carried in a socket supported by bars from the main mast supports 6. In a further modification, Fig. 9, the mast is supported at four points by pins 48 on the insulator caps 47, and the pull on the mast is adjusted by a centre rod 56 and nuts through a central insulator 54.
