417,444. Colour photography. GASPAR, B., 38, Innsbruckerstrasse, Schoneberg, Berlin. Jan. 4, 1933, No. 290. Convention date, Jan. 4, 1932. [Class 98 (ii).] Colour - photographic, bleach - out dyestuff images are produced from acid, substantive or azo dyestuffs mixed with a sensitizer and an auxiliary activating body such as organic or inorganic acids, acid salts, or reducing substances, and applied in a colloid or to a backing with or without a binding agent. Suitable sensitizers are substituted thioureas, e.g. thiosinamine or thiocarbamide ; or ethereal oils, e.g. anethole. Activators include salts of multibase acids and reducing substances such as sulphur compounds, e.g. metal sulphides and sulphites, grape sugar, and phenols or aminophenols, particularly those suitable as photographic developers : catalytic salts, e.g. of vanadium or titanium may be employed, also durable compounds of hydro-sulphuric acid, e.g. sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate. For multicolour images the dyestuffs may be admixed or applied in superimposed layers and are copied from tripack or other master images or from multicolour-screen images, preferably of coarse grain. In examples : (1) Chloramine Light Red 7BL mixed with anethole and potassium bisulphate is applied to paper; (2) Tartrazine is mixed with thiosinamine and sulphuric acid or sodium bisulphate, or with thiocarbamide and sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate ; (3) a three-colour image is produced from Tartrazine, Patent Blue A and Fast Red D mixed with sensitizers and activators. After exposure, the bleached images are fixed by washing ; in some cases a short after-treatment with copper sulphate, alum, or other mordant may be applied. Other suitable dyes are specified.
