Abstract
417,036. Valve generating and amplifying circuits. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. April 18, 1934, No. 11695. Convention date, April 18, 1933. [Class 40 (v).] In a valve circuit of the kind in which the cathode is heated by alternating current but is not grounded as regards the signal or operating frequency, means are provided in the primary and secondary circuits of the heating transformer for preventing variations in the transformer constants from affecting the operation of the circuit. As shown, an oscillation generator comprises a tetrode valve 1 with inner and outer grids 4, 3 and cathode connected to a tuned circuit 5 to set up oscillation therein. The anode 2 is coupled to the load or output circuit. The outer grid 3 is grounded at 8 as regards the operating frequency, and the cathode is oscillatory. Condensers 10 are connected across the cathode and the two halves of the secondary coil of the supply transformer 12, a condenser 19 across the primary of the transformer, and condensers 20, 21 between each end of the primary coil and the adjacent end of the secondary coil. All these elements are at oscillatory voltage, whilst the supply source 11 is grounded by two condensers 26 and is isolated from the rest of the circuit by chokes 22. These need only be of small current-carrying capacity as they are on the high-voltage side of the transformer 12. Thermostatic arrangements 24, 25 may be provided in association with the casing 23. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), a triode oscillating valve is employed.
