Abstract
416,831. Gudgeon pins. AKTIE. BOLAGET SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN, 17, Artillerigatan, Gothenburg, Sweden. Feb. 27, 1934, No. 6385. Convention date, Sept. 2, 1933. [Class 122 (i).] Gudgeon pins mounted in a piston by roller or equivalent anti-friction bearings are provided with bearing surfaces between guide flanges, the diameter of the surfaces being less than the diameter of the outer race by the diameter of a rolling element. The gudgeon pin 3 is formed with reduced diameters at its end between flanges 6 in which are accommodated rollers 4, the outer races for which are formed by sleeves 7, 8 inserted in the piston bosses. These sleeves are retained by spring rings 9. For reducing stresses, deep curves 19 are provided adjacent the sides of the smaller end of the connecting rod. In introducing the pin into position, it together with the rollers is first placed in a holder sleeve which is lined up with the piston bosses and the small end of the connecting rod and is then tapped into position. The small end is clamped into position about the middle section of the pin. When an undivided small end is used, the roller diameter at one end is smaller than that at the other, so that the pin may be introduced into position.
