Abstract

416,244. Electrically-actuated valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd., Windmill Road, Sunbury, Middlesex, and PAYNE, M., 50, Hook Road, Surbiton, Surrey. Jan. 15, 1934, No. 1463. [Class 135.] An electromagnetically-actuated valve of the kind in which the valve member is moved by a solenoid core working in a tubular guide chamber in communication with the interior of the valve chamber, has the solenoid core 7 coupled to the valve member 1 by means of a two-armed lever 8 directly connected to the core and valve member or elements rigid therewith. The valve member 1 which cooperates with a seat on a detachable end plate 2 slides in a guide 4 and has a pin and slot connection 10 with the lever 8 which is pivoted to the guide at 9. The other end of the lever has a pin and slot connection 16 with the core 7 which slides in a non-magnetic tube 14 arranged inside the solenoid winding. The core may be rigid with the lever in which case the tube is made with a larger clearance or on a curved axis. The solenoid winding is enclosed in a magnetic casing 12 fitted with a polepiece 13.
