Abstract
415,174. Lubricating. LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD, 55, Broadway, Westminster, and CONDY, J. H., 50, Luttrell Avenue, Putney, London. March 20, 1933, No. 8349. [Class 12 (iii).] A device for applying lubricant to the outer face of the flanges on railway vehicle wheels, comprises a lubricant container 13 of rectangular form in plan in which is mounted a stationary block or pad 15 of sponge rubber enclosed in a wrapping 16 of felt. The pad is secured by bolts 17 and strips 18, and is so mounted as to be partly immersed in the lubricant and to make contact with the outer face of the wheel flanges. The pad may be removed, and replaced in a reversed position as regards either its upper and lower or inner and outer faces. Owing to the overlapping of the longitudinal edges of the felt wrapping, a distance piece 20 has to be inserted in the position of the pad shown in the Figure. The ends of the wrapping are drawn together by means of threads so as to form substantially torpedo-shaped ends.
