Abstract

414,993. Slipping - clutches. KOEFOED, HAUBERG, MARSTRAND, & HELWEG AKTIESELSKABET TITAN, and SCHELBECK, F. C. G., 86, Tagensvej, Copenhagen. March 12, 1934, No. 7766. [Class 80 (ii).] The shaft 4 of a centrifugal separator is driven by a worm wheel 2 which engages a worm 3 on a sleeve mounted loosely on the shaft. The sleeve carries the movable member 5 of a friction clutch the other member 6 of which is rigidly secured to the shaft. The worm wheel tends by its driving action to lift the worm and open the clutch. The axial movement of the worm is subject to control by a spring 7 resting against a loose collar 8 engaged by an arm of a bell crank lever 10. The outer arm of the bell crank carries a screw 12 by which the compression of the spring 7 can be adjusted, so that the shaft 4 can be brought slowly up to speed when starting, and can be disconnected from the driving gear when stopping.
