Abstract
414,950. Ordnance field carriages. WAFFENFABRIK SOLOTHURN AKT.- GES., Solothurn, Switzerland. Dec. 13, 1933, No. 35082. Convention date, April 1. [Class 92 (i).] Relates to field carriages having divided trail-beams h and a front leg n brought into operation when the beams are spread apart to forma threepoint support to relieve the wheeled chassis of weight when firing. According to the invention, the wheels d are supported on crank arms g which can rock independently or together in bearings c<1> on the carriage body c against the action of springs l, the crank arms being connected, as by means of links m and sleeves k, with the trail-beams. The arrangement is such that the body c carrying the front leg n is lowered to form the three-point support when the trail beams are spread and raised when the beams are closed together for travelling. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2 in which the links m are loosely jointed between the trail beams and the sleeves k, the wheels rest on the ground during firing, but, by using a ball-jointed link as in Fig. 7, the wheels may be raised from the ground when the beams are fully spread. Means to lock the crank arms to the body when firing with the legs closed are provided.
