[Class 108 (ii).] In a spring suspension for the wheels of motor vehicles of the kind comprising a transverse spring 13 which at its centre is pivotally connected to the chassis frame and at its ends is pivotally associated with the wheels 17, the ends of the spring are connected to the upper ends of brackets 37, which are supported by the wheels 17 and to the lower ends of which are linked rigid radius arms 18 disposed beneath the spring 13 and hinged at their inner ends 19, preferably with interposed damping-means, to the chassis. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the spring 13 is clamped between plates 14, 15 and pivots about a pin 16 connecting brackets 12 on the frame 11. Modifications are described in which helical or rubber springs in addition are interposed between the spring 13 and frame 11 on each side of the pivot 16. In further constructions, a downward extension 22 of the plate 14 co-operates either with helical springs 23 as shown in Fig. 5 or with a spring-controlled rocking-lever.
