[Class 146 (iii).] Writing-nibs, particularly for fountain pens, are made in two sections, namely a shank section. of non-precious metal and a writing- point section of precious metal, the edges of one section being bent or clipped over to form guides to receive the other section. The shank section a of base metal is formed with a slot a', an aperture a<2>, and a longitudinal slot a3, and is provided at its forward end with shoulders a<4>. The point section b, which is of gold or other precious metal, is formed with wings b<1>, the slit b<2> terminating in an aperture b<3>, which co-operates with the slot a<3> to form the feed channels for the ink. The section b is wider than the section a and is bent at its edges to form guides into which the section a is inserted when a tongue d on the end of the section b is bent down and inserted in the aperture a<1> in the section a. Alternatively, the part a may be wider than the part b and may be furnished with longitudinal guides or passages adapted to be clipped over the corresponding edges of the section b.
