413,937. Reflectors; lenses. DIETRICH, F. R., 42, Langwiederstrasse, Pasing, near Munich, Germany. Nov. 22, 1933, Nos. 32648, 32649, and 32650. Convention dates, Nov. 23, 1932, Jan. 6, 1933, and Jan. 25, 1933. [Class 75 (ii).] A parabolic reflector for vehicle and like lamps has a rim portion 3, of parabolic curvature, off-set with respect to the main parabolic portion 1, so that it projects a parallel beam diverging laterally from the beam projected by the main central part 1, the two parabolic parts 1, 3 having a common focus 2. The off-set part may, as shown in Fig. 5, comprise a plurality of parabolic segments 3<1>, 3<11>, 3<111>, the axes of which are of successively increasing divergence from the main axis. The reflector may have two off-set parts at opposite sides and with focal lengths the same as, or shorter than, that of the main part. The front glass 5 shown in Fig. 4, for use with the reflector shown in Fig. 3, comprises a circular portion in front of the lamp bulb with ripples fairly close together, and vertical ripples on the remaining part. The vertical ripples are closer together in front of the off-set portion 3 of the reflector. Transverse ripples are provided at the bottom of the glass. Specification 380,971 is referred to.
