Abstract

In the manufacture of cordage the fibres before or during manufacture or the cordage after manufacture are treated with an aqueous solution of a neutralized sulphonated oil which has been subjected to an electric ionization process with the addition of tar, resin, wax or the like. The treatment is particularly suitable for sisal cordage which is rendered non-absorbent of water and more flexible. Specifications 363,651, [Group IX], and 405,284 are referred to.
