Abstract

In a continuous furnace for normalizing metal sheets comprising a directly-fired heating zone and a cooling zone, the sheets are raised, in the heating zone, to a temperature of 1750 DEG F. or more, the temperature being reduced in the cooling zone, before the sheets are discharged, to 1200 DEG F. or less.
