[Class 126.] The opening of the fire or ash-pit door of a stove, which admits air tending to increase the rate of combustion, is caused also to admit a check draught to the flue by means operating without moving parts other than the door itself. In the heat-accumulating cooking stove described, the ash-pit door 1 covers also the inlet 11 to a duct 12, 13, 14 by which the check-draught passes to the outlet flue 4 when the door is opened. A small opening 16 in the door, covered by a hood 17, allows a restricted supply of air to the flue when the door is closed ; this restricted air supply, being heated in the duct before delivery to the flue, helps to maintain a draught. Alternatively, the door when closed may be spaced from the inlet 11 sufficiently to maintain the restricted air supply. The normal air supply to the ash-pit is thermostatically controlled. In a modification, an upward extension of the ash-pit door covers the inlet to a duct leading to the base of an annular flue surrounding the cylindrical fuel hopper, thus supplying the check-draught immediately above the fire. Where both fire and ash-pit doors are provided, they may control parts of one air inlet, or separate inlets.
