Abstract

410,980. Control of D.C. motors. FORGES ET ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTION ELECTRIQUES DE JEUMONT, 75, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris. June 19, 1933, No. 17420. Convention date, June 20, 1932. [Class 38 (iii).] The change from series to parallel grouping of motors M, M1, and vice versa, is under the control of two relays M#, P#, energized by currents flowing in the fields of the motor M. When the field currents fall below a predetermined minimum, the coils B C of relay M# are insufficiently energized to maintain contacts 1, 2 open, and a winding m of an electromagnetic reversing switch for a servo motor t is energized, and a transfer switch T is moved to give parallel grouping of the motors. When the field currents reach a predetermined maximum, contacts 3, 4, of the relay P# are closed, and the reversing switch of the servo motor t is thrown over, and the transfer switch T moved to give series grouping of the motors. Each relay M#, P#, has a holding winding energized by an exciter E which supplies a field of each of the motors M, M1, in the manner described in Specification 386,009.
