Abstract

410,517. Obtaining photographs with relief effects. SOC. D'ETUDES DE NOUVEAUTES CINEMATOGRAPHIQUES ET PHOTOGRAPHIQUES, 60, Rue Boissiere, Paris. Nov. 19, 1932, No. 32768. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1931. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii).] Photographs exhibiting relief effects when directly viewed are obtained by using an objective with a diameter not substantially less than the normal eye separation (63 mm.) and with an effective aperture not substantially less than f /4 in conjunction with films or plates having one surface covered with cylindrical lenticular elements with their foci in the sensitive layer and with an aperture ratio substantially equal to that of the objective. In Fig. 1 the objective A consists of components b and has a diaphragm B arranged to vary the opening of the lens only in the vertical direction, the width l of the opening being about 63 mm. The film &c. consists of a support 3 having on one side the sensitive layer 4 and on the other side a gelatine layer 2 formed with lenticulations 1. The negative is developed by reversal and may be viewed by transmitted light, the lenticulations being turned towards the observer. Preferably however the film is viewed by reflected light and for this purpose a reflecting backing may be applied to the layer 4. In the case of kinematographic pictures, the screen receiving the projected images is covered with lenticulations similar to those on the film, as described in Specification 410,518. Specification 410,515 also is referred to.
