[Class 40 (iii).] The parent Specification relates to a television system in which a continuously changing scene, e.g. a football match, is recorded on a photographic film which is solely developed or in addition is subjected to a preliminary fixing process before the scanning operation so that the transmission can take place within a short time of the occurrence of the event. According to the present invention, for transmissions of such duration that two or more film reels are required, two complete transmitting devices are employed in such a way that before the film of the transmitting device in action runs off its reel, the second device is set into operation, regulated to the correct phase, and is switched over to the transmitting amplifier at the same moment at which the first device is switched off. The switching operation may be effected automatically when the unexposed film of the first device has reached the winding spool. The control receivers by which the necessary phase regulation is ascertained may have their scanning discs on the same shaft or be driven by flexibly coupled motors or the control pictures may be formed by separate spirals of a single scanning disc. A signal may be emitted when the film on the spool of the transmitting device in action has reached a predetermined level to warn the operator to set the second device into operation.
