Abstract
409,879. Sharpening knives. EGGINTON, C., 99, Sandygate Road, Sheffield. March 18, 1933, No. 8241. [Class 60.] A V-slot sharpener for knives consists of two circular sectioned steels 8 arranged to cross with their peripheries in contact and held in position by a holder having two parts 9, 10 clamped by a screw 11. The holder may have a tang to receive a handle, or may have a flange 9<a> for attachment to a table &c. In a modification adapted for attachment to the prongs 12 of a carving fork, the part 9 has tapering' projections 9<b> which engage between the prongs, a screw 13 and nut 14 serving to hold the sharpener in position, This form of sharpener also may be secured to a base provided with a handle and having recesses to receive the projections 9<b>. The steels may have thereon spiral or scroll-form knurlings, the spirals being of opposite hand on the two steels, The steels may be adjusted by releasing the screw 11. A slotted guide member for the knife may be provided.
