[Class 39 (iii).] A device for heating bowlshaped cooking vessels B comprises a block A of fireclay or other refractory material hollowed out to the curvature of the base of the cooking vessel and provided with a series of concentric grooves a', a<5>, a<6>, in the recessed portion to house electric heating resistances C. The resistances C are anchored in the grooves by wire loops c<2>. An outer groove a<3> conducts spilt liquid through channels a to the exterior of the block. A metallic spring E terminating in a metal stud e connected to an earthing terminal c<3> serves to earth the vessel B.
