[Class 141.] The neckband of a shirt and a collar are maintained in their proper position during wear without the aid of a back collar stud by the provision of interengaging ridges of resilient material such as indiarubber. The ridges may be continuous or may be interrupted, and may take the forms shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, in which the ridge on the collar is larger than that on the neckband so as to overlie it and increase the security against detachment. In the construction shown in Fig. 5, rubber or like cords c, g, which are usually of circular cross section, are enclosed in sheaths d, k respectively, which sheaths may be of fabric or other material. The sheaths may be of resilient material enclosing hard cores. In Fig. 6 is shown a construction with the engaging surfaces of the ridges in an inclined direction to increase the security. Other constructions are described in which the ridges are of various shapes in cross section and in which the core is a built up one of multiple strands of rubber.
