Abstract

408,530. Rectifying alternating current. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Oct. 9, 1933, No. 27796. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1932. [Class 38 (ii).] A multiphase rectifying system is provided with a signal device operated by a tuned circuit, connected across the direct current terminals and tuned to the frequency of the voltage impulses produced by breakdown of one of the rectifying tubes. A tuned circuit consisting of a condenser 22 and a tapped choke 23 is connected across the D.C. terminals 4 and 5 and a glow tube or other indicating device 24 is connected across either the condenser or the choke. When one of the rectifiers 13, 14 or 15 fails a pronounced pulsation is produced in the e.m.f. across the tuned circuit and is of such a frequency that it produces resonance in this circuit and hence high voltage across the condenser 22 and the choke 23 thus operating the indicating-device 24. Fine tuning of the circuit across the D.C. terminals is effected with the tappings 25. Dimensions of the tuned circuit are given for a particular frequency. The rectifying system is as in the Figure and 12 is a smoothing choke.
