Abstract

A thin layer of nitrocellulose is applied, e.g. as waste moving-picture films in an alcohol acetate, to a base of waterleaf, paper, reinforced paper, cotton fabric &c. the coating material entering the pores of the base and adhering thereto; the coated base being given a parchmentizing treatment, and the uncoated part of the base may then be stripped off leaving the coating with a very thin layer of fibres, the ends of which project from the surface of the coating material and facilitate the adhesion of further coating material.
