Abstract
406,125. Cabinet beds. GREAVES, F. A., and THOMAS, A. J., Amherst Works, Northwold Road, Clapton, London. Jan 23, 1933, No. 2202. [Class 52 (ii).] A cabinet bed of the type having a folding bed frame comprising three or more sections consisting of pivotally connected metallic members 16, 20, 21, 26, is provided with a door 5 hinged on a horizontal axis to open downwardly and to be supported on the floor, and one or more of the bed sections is supported from the door by struts 22, 23. Link members 10 are pivoted to plates on the door and attached to counterbalancing springs 11, and are also provided with notches engaging pins 14 to hold the door open. The bed frame comprises a short head section 16, a long intermediate section 20, a short section 21, and a long foot section 26. When folded, the long sections are vertical, and the short sections substantially horizontal. Section 20 is connected by struts 22 to angle bars 25 pivoted on the pins on which the door is hung and shaped to fit over battens 8 on the door when in extended position. Further struts 23 are pivoted to plates 24 on the bed section 21 and to the angle bars 25. The outer section 26 is supported by legs 27 pivoted thereto and extended when the bed is unfolded by links 29 pivoted to the plate 24. A drawer 4 may be provided in the base of the cabinet 2.
