Abstract

406,084. Filling-machines. SIMON, Ltd., H., and BRIAN, J. C., Bird Hall Lane, Cheadle Heath, near Stockport. Oct. 27, 1932, No. 30115. [Class 94 (i).] A jigging apparatus for sacks comprises a plate a to receive the sack r<1>, pivoted at t to brackets on a spindle b. An arm d is secured to the spindle by trunnions on a boss d<1> and carries a roller e engaging a cam f rotated by a belt pulley h to impart an oscillatory movement to the plate a. The arm d is pivoted to the boss d<1> to allow lateral movement of the roller e to a position out of engagement with the cam f. When there is less than a predetermined weight on the plate a, the weight of the arm d is sufficient to tilt the roller e out of contact with the cam f, and the plate a is thus moved into an inoperative position. The disengagement may be effected by a hand lever k connected by links m, n to a bell-crank lever which moves a slide h through guides i. The slide carries projecting pieces o, one on each side of the lever d and moves the latter accordingly. The bell-crank lever may also be operated by a link p, Fig. 3, connected to the control mechanism of a weighing machine. The control comprises a handle q connected to levers r which is actuated so that the roller e is disengaged to stop the jigging operation while the weighing takes place.
