Abstract

405,951. Salving submarines. BOUR, E. F., Forest Side, Mauritius. Aug. 12, 1932, No. 22578. [Class 68 (ii).] In apparatus for raising sunken submarines of the type comprising a catch device in a cable attached to the submarine, the catch and cable being passed through a sleeve in a lifting caisson, and the catch then automatically holding the caisson from rising relatively to the cable, the catch comprises a latch 4 pivoted at 5 between cheeks 3 and initially held in vertical position by a stop 8 on a spring 7 ; when the caisson sleeve 10 engages a spring hoop 12, the stop 8 releases the latch which is moved into horizontal position by a spring 6.
