Abstract

403,827. Valve-spring lifters. DEVINE, J. P., 107, High Street, Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. Feb. 6, 1933, No. 3636. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1932. [Class 61 (ii).] A valve lifter comprises a frame 10 adapted to engage the cylinder 16 and a slidable member 19 with ledges 20 adapted to engage under the head of the valve 17 and operated by a bell crank lever 22 pivoted at 23 to the side members of the frame and connected to a loop like link 24 guided on a rod 25 which is pivoted at 26 to the stem 21 of the slide 19 and retained against an adjustable nut 27 on the end of the rod by a spring 28. Jaws 30, 31 carried respectively by the stem 21 and frame 10 serve for compressing a spring 171. Modifications in the valve head engaging means are described comprising in one construction a pair of ledges adjustable inwards by bolts engaging slots in the slidable member and in another construction a pair of hook members depending from a pivot on that member and in a further construction a single ledge gapped at one edge to clear the valve stem.
