Abstract

402,271. Typewriter covers. GRANGE, T., 156, Rue de la Roquette, Paris. Jan. 30, 1933, Nos. 2841 and 2842. Convention dates, Jan. 29, 1932 and Dec. 21, 1932. [Class 52 (i).] A typewriter cover comprises a series of sectors 3 pivoted about a horizontal axis 2. The sectors fit one within the other at the back of the machine and can be spread out fanwise to cover the machine. Each sector has a projection 8 engaging another projection 9 on the adjacent sector and a pad of felt &c. 10 ensures a dust proof joint. In a modification shown in Fig. 7, each sector has at the side, a circular hub with an opening 13 of the form of an arc of a circle. A pin 14 on each hub engages in the opening 13 of the adjacent sector and thereby ensures the carrying along of the succeeding sector in the opening or closing operation. A pad of felt &c. 15 on the inside edge of each sector ensures silent working, water-tightness &c. The cover may be made sheet metal, aluminium, plastic materials, imitation leather, &c.
