Abstract
401,417. Destroying flies. LILLARD, W. W., 96, Park Avenue, Midland Park, New Jersey, U.S.A. June 30, 1932, No. 18516. Convention date, July 14, 1931. [Class 5 (i).] A fly-swatter comprises a flap element 10 made up in two parts 11, 12, of light weight soft sponge rubber cemented together over a flexible wire netting frame N of which the lower corner portions 17 are bent about a triangular extension 16 of a stiff wire member 14 the lower end of which is embedded in a handle 13. Closely spaced holes 18, 19 are made in the flap element 10. The sides of the flap may be of differently coloured sponge rubber. The handle may be detachably connected to a coil spring stiffening member embedded in the flap, the parts of which are grooved to receive the springs. In a further modification a wire handle is permanently or detachably connected to a spring stiffening member.
