Abstract
400,950. Shrinking and stretching yarns. WRIGLEY, J. H., Douglas House, Worthington, MELVILLE, A., 42, Chorley Road, Standish, both near Wigan, and HENSHILWOOD, A. B., 89, Upper Rushton Road, Bradford, Yorkshire. Feb. 2, 1932, No. 3054. [Class 120 (iii).] Yarns c to be stretched or shrunk are passed between relatively soft and hard surfaces which are pressed together and moved at different speeds. Shrinkage is effected when the harder surface moves faster than the softer surface and vice versa. The apparatus may comprise rollers a, b made of or covered with rubber, a hard and a soft band f, b<5>, or one roller and one band. Metal, paper, cotton, &c., rollers &c. may be used. The yarn may be previously damped. Specifications 371,146, [Group XVI], 371,976, and 372,803 are referred to.
