Abstract

400,473. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London. -(Assignees of Franklin, R. E. ; Rocky Point, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) Feb. 10, 1933, No. 4144. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1932. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v).] An oscillation generator comprises a parallel tuned circuit 18, 20 connected between two electrodes of a valve 2, a piezo-electric crystal 16 being connected between the coil 18 and condenser 20. Spurious oscillations due to the crystal acting as a simple dielectric are avoided, the crystal acting as a series-tuned circuit for the desired frequency and the grid-tuned circuit acting as a byepass for the spurious frequencies. The tuned circuit 18, 16, 20 is preferably connected between grid and cathode of the valve, and the feed-back coil 24 is reversed relative to coil 18 so that the circuit fails to oscillate without the crystal. An earthed screen 26 between the coils 24, 18 prevents capacitive coupling. In a modification, a screen grid valve is used and one plate of the crystal is earthed, Fig. 2 (not shown).
