Abstract

[Class 81 (ii).] A device for administering measured quantities of liquids to animals comprises a cylindrical casing 3 in which a hollow cylinder 7 closed at the upper end is normally kept extended by spring 11 so that the port 9 in said cylinder is opposite the inlet 4 connected to a supply reservoir. In operation, the cylinder 7 is pressed down until port 10 is opposite the outlet 5 whereby the dose is expelled by the air compressed in the upper part of the cylinder. A stud in the cylinder engages a slot in the casing to limit the extension of the former and to maintain the ports in alignment with the inlet and outlet. In a modification, the outlet is situated directly under the inlet, whereby only one port is necessary. Preferably, the tube 14 has a turned down end to direct the liquid on to the tongue of the animal.
