Abstract
398,975. Coin-freed article-delivery apparatus. MORNAND, G., 179, Calea Dorobantilor, and ALBU, N. N., 16, Strada Lanariei, both in Bucharest. June 27, 1932, No. 18157. Convention date, March 4. [Class 27.] Articles stored in rotary drum.-In coin-freed vending-apparatus, the articles are stored between radial members 11 on a drum 10, Fig. 2, which is partially set in motion by an inserted coin, the coin subsequently acting by weight to free a release mechanism enabling the drum to be rotated by hand through an opening which also serves for the extraction of the goods. The drum is journalled on a hollow axle 7 secured within an upper cylindrical part 6 of the casing 5, and the front and top of the outer casing are open at the part corresponding with the top sector of the drum to enable the latter to be rotated in the direction of the arrow and the articles extracted ; rotation in the opposite direction is prevented by a detent 43 which engage the radial divisions. Coin action, weight.-A coin inserted through the slot 16 passes between a plate 15, Figs. 4 and 11, and the back 17 of the compartment 6 and is guided by a projection 18 and a ledge 32 on to a projection 19 on a pivoted member 20 weighted at 26, after which it falls into a receptacle 35. The member 20 engages any one of a set of equidistant studs 23 on the back of the drum 10, corresponding in number to the compartments, and is disengaged therefrom by the coin striking the projection 19, reengagement with the same stud being prevented by a pivoted tip 25. The drum may now be rotated through one division and an article extracted, further rotation being prevented by the engagement of the member 20 with the next stud 23. Fraud preventing; testing coins.-Access to the member 20 by a piece of wire &c. is prevented by the members 18, 32, and a rib 46 on the plate 15. If the coin is of insufficient thickness, it passes between the ledge 32 and the back of the compartment 6 ; if of insufficient diameter, it passes freely between the projection 19 and the side of the casing 5 ; if of insufficient weight it does not deflect the member 20, but is removed therefrom by the insertion of the next coin ; and if of magnetic material, it adheres to the magnet 36. Returning coins.-A thin coin not retained by the ledge 32 falls into an open compartment 31, from which it may be removed. If a correct coin is prevented from actuating the machine by a magnetic disc adhering to the magnet, or other foreign bodies which may have been inserted through the slot, it may be recovered via the compartment 31 by pressing the button 37, which moves back the plate 15 against the action of a spring 41. Coin-slit closing-devices.-A pivoted flap is adapted to be moved up beneath the coin slot 16 by means of a stud 27 on the drum when the last compartment has been emptied.
