Abstract

398,862. Cartons &c. PALMER, H. W. S., Villa Amalia, Pinewood Road, Branksome Park, Bournemouth, Hampshire. March 24, 1932, No. 1736. [Classes 18 and 66.] In an all paper &c. carton &c. provided with a double flanged end cap 4a between the flanges of which the end of the body 1 is seated, the body is of angular, preferably triangular, cross section and is made from a paper blank folded along straight lines with the opposing ends of the blank overlapped and secured together by adhesive. The carton is of prismatic or truncated pyramidal shape. The members 4a which are, in general, similar for both ends of the carton are secured by waxing or by adhesive, and they may be strengthened by pressing ribs 6 therein or by binding the edges with metal. If the top cap 4a has been previously waxed, it is secured in position by forming the ribs 6 with a hot tool. For removing the contents the top cap can be taken off; or a triangular pouring opening can be cut at the top of one of the angular edges of the carton ; or, for granular material, a hole with a sliding closure is provided in the top cap.
