Abstract
398,671. Photographic diazotype processes. KALLE & CO. AKT.-GES., 23, Rheinstrasse, Biebrich, Wiesbaden, Germany. Nov. 9, 1932, No. 31676. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1931. [Class 98 (ii).] Sensitive layers containing only the diazo compound are developed by the vapours of aromatic amines. The carriers for the layers may be paper, films, or glass plates, and films sensitized in the mass may be used. Metallic salts, lake forming salts, hygroscopic substances such as glycerine or calcium chloride and stabilizers such as organic acids or thiourea may be added to the layers. In examples, (1) cellulose foil is impregnated with diazodiphenylamine sulphate, glycerine and citric acid ; (2) cellulose foil is impregnated with the zinc chloride double salt of diazo-p-aminodiethylamine, glycol and tartaric acid ; (3) a gelatin layer on a nitrocellulose film is sensitized with the zinc chloride double salt of diazo-paminoethylbenzylaniline, glycerine and tartaric acid ; (4) cellulose foil is impregnated with tetrazodianisol ; (5) cellulose hydrate foil is sensitized with diazo-diphenylamine sulphate, resorcine and glucose. Suitable developers are m-toluylenediamine, a-naphthylamine, m - aminophenol, dimethylaniline, and o-anisidine. The development may be effected by placing the exposed papers in contact with dry foils impregnated with the aromatic amines, by exposing the papers to vapours of the amines produced in heated vessels, or by passing them between felt-covered rollers impregnated with the developer.
