Abstract
398,082. Indicating liquid-levels. AVIGDOR, R., 102, Bergmannstrasse, Berlin. Jan. 10; 1933, No. 877. [Class 123 (i).] Consists in means for simultaneously and continuously measuring a liquid head and a pressure difference by using a common supply of compressed air which is supplied through a distributing pipe or vessel to the measuring points through pipes in which the flow is throttled by capillary nozzles. The apparatus comprises a combined plant for simultaneously measuring the liquid level in a fuel tank and the speed of travel in aircraft. The supply pipe b has branch pipes 1 .. 4 terminating in capillary nozzles 18 .. 21 to which are connected T-pieces 22 .. 25. One branch of pipe 22 is connected to an immersion tube 8 in the tank 6 and the other branch by a pipe 7 to the diaphragm 9 of a pressure gauge 10. The casing of the pressure gauge is closed and connected by a pipe 11 to one branch of the T-piece 23 the other branch of which is connected by the pipe 12 to the space above the liquid in the tank 6. In the pipes 5, 7 the pressure adjusts itself to the value necessary to expel the liquid from the pipe 8 and this pressure is indicated on the gauge 10. The branches 3, 4 are connected to a pressure-head speed-indicator. One branch of the T-piece 25 is connected by a pipe 13 to the diaphragm of a pressure gauge 14 while the other is connected by a pipe 15 to the dynamic pipe of the speed-indicator. The branches of the T-piece 24 are connected by pipes 16, 17 to the casing of the pressure gauge and to the static tube of the indicator respectively.
