[Class 132 (ii).] A race game apparatus comprises a number of travellers advanced along tracks towards a target or indicator by thrusts imparted directly thereto by propelling units, for example balls, receiving impulses from actuating devices manipulated by the respective competitors. A base 5, Figs. 1 and 2, has a plurality of sockets 4a, each of which may carry a pivotal member 3 to which is pivoted at 7, Fig. 5, the upper end of a channel-shaped track 2 fixed at its lower end to a base 8, Fig. 8. The latter carries a spring 9 which when depressed by means of a button 14 flicks a heavy ball 11 up the track to advance the traveller, for example, a model car 13 carried by a base 16 and guide strip 17, the end 12 of the spring 9 acting as a buffer to a descending ball. When the traveller reaches the top of the track 2, the forward end of the guide 17 abuts against the arm 19, Fig. 5, of an indicator 18 pivoted at 7, and rocks it into the vertical position where it is retained by a counterweight 21 which abuts against the traveller to prevent further forward movement thereof. In a competitive game the winner is he who first elevates his indicator 18. In another embodiment the base 5 carries a hand-spun flywheel 25, Fig. 3, which frictionally drives a bar 24 resting diametrically thereon. The bar carries a model hare 23 and a counterweight 31. In playing a game the competitors advance their travellers 16 as before to position them at the top of the respective tracks where the models lie in the path of and stop the hare 23, the bases 16 or the top ends 33 of the tracks engaged thereby being made resilient to render more difficult a winning location of a traveller. In a modification the springs 9 for propelling the balls may be flexed by a manually rotated cam. Alternatively the balls 11 may be propelled by a plunger and recoil spring.
