Abstract
396,537. Apparatus for teaching aviators. AIR SERVICE TRAINING, Ltd., JENKINS, H. F., and BERLYN, R. C., Hamble, near Southampton. June 25, 1932, No. 17975. [Class 4.] Apparatus for use in ground flying instruction comprises a magnetic compass 10, as shown in the Figure, provided with a corrector magnet 12 to neutralize terrestrial magnetism and a larger bar magnet 13 beneath the latter which can be turned by the instructor to produce movement of the compass needle. The instructor may control magnet 13 by means of a chain 15 geared to a spindle having a control knob 16 and a pointer 17 sweeping over a dial 18 marked in degrees. Specifications 396,538 and 396,540 are referred to.
