Abstract
395,751. Cardboard boxes. FILMER, R. H., 9, Allen Street, Clerkenwell, London. Jan. 22, 1932, No. 1988. [Class 18.] A cardboard box is provided with handles by forming extensions d, Figs. 2 and 6, from the top edges of two opposite sides with hand-holes h, these extensions being connected by creases g with extensions b, c from the top edges of the other two sides. The flaps b, c which may or may not overlap are folded down to close the box, the flaps d simultaneously folding about the lines g and remaining in an upwardly standing position. Each extension d may have one or two side wings as shown in Fig. 2 by the full and dotted lines respectively and one may be continued downwards as shown and stitched to the side a, this constituting the joint between adjacent box sides. In the form shown in Fig. 6 the extensions b, c, d are all of the same length, slits j being made to form a fold-over flap k to strengthen the handle.
