Abstract
395,659. Tobacco-feeding mechanism. PFEIFFER, B., 135, Kuthstrasse, Vingst, Cologne, Germany. March 20, 1933, No. 8369. [Class 130.] Tobacco and like fibres are spread evenly over the sieve surface b of a rotarv suction drum by the knife edged extremity d of the hopper wall c, the drum finally delivering the fibres in the form of a fleece. Radial partitions f divide the drum into a number of cells k forming suction channels which communicate, through chambers i<1>, i2, i<3> in the supporting shaft e, with a suction pipe i, two additional suction pipes g, h being provided to communicate with the cells k when the latter are positioned respectively in front of and immediately below the knife edge d. A pressure pipe l is provided to assist delivery of the fleece at the end of suction chambers i<3> or i<2> as desired. A concave member b<1> adjoining the knife edge d extends over that part of the drum surface subjected to suction.
