[Class 100 (iii).] A sheet or copy-holder for typewriters, of the type wherein the feeding and clamping mechanism is arranged behind and over the typewriter, is supported on a hollow column in which the rod for feeding forward the sheet is enclosed. The clamping and feeding mechanism may consist of two rough-surfaced coaxial feed rollers c of rubber &c. and one coacting roller d, the shaft of the rollers c carrying a ratchetwheel f positioned midway of the rollers and actuated by a pawl g connected to a rod h enclosed in a hollow column b. The rod h is actuated through a rocking-bar i by a keylever k pivoted on the base a of the column at the side of the typewriter. The pivot pin m of the bar i can be moved to allow the extent of movement of the pawl g, and consequently the feed of the sheet e, to be altered. The roller d is mounted on a frame pivotally supported on and spring-pressed towards a housing n for the rollers c. The sheet e is fed from beneath a cover-plate o, which acts as a lineguide, and from which lugs are cut out to form a support p for a memorandum pad &c., and a guide q for the sheet e. A guide-plate t for the sheet is fixed on the housing n. The shaft of the rollers c carries a milled head at each end for initial adjustment of the sheet e. The device may be modified for use with rolls of paper by providing one or more carriers for the rolls, which may be positively moved with the rollers c, or by substituting the rolls for the rollers c. The typewriter may be placed on the base a of the device, or the device may be attached to the typewriter.
