[Class 38 (v).] A regulating-switch, particularly for use as a transformer tap-changing switch, comprises two Geneva gear wheels 19, 20 mounted on insulating bushes 17, 18 on a shaft 12, and adapted to be rotated alternately step-by-step by two pins 25 situated diametrically opposite each other on an operating spindle 23 provided with a handwheel 24. The Geneva wheels 19, 20 carry respectively metal plates 26, 27 provided with spring clip contacts 31, 32 adapted to engage the inturned ends of a series of conducting strips 16 connected by means of terminals 15 to the tapping points of a transformer winding. The contacts 31, 32 are connected to the outgoing leads by means of similar contacts 33, 34, Fig. 3, which continuously engage the lower circular edges of the plates 26, 27. Leads attached to terminals 35, 36 are taken to the ends of a reactance coil from the middle of which the outgoing lead is taken. Thus when the contacts 31, 32 are moved alternately step by step the tapping is changed without interrupting the load and the short circuit current between tappings in the intermediate position is reduced by the reactance.
