Abstract
392,566. Treating teeth. WATSON, W., 2, Third Avenue, King's Park, Cathcart, Glasgow. Nov. 18, 1931, No. 31949. [Class 81 (ii).] Partially decaved teeth are removed from the mouth, the decayed portion is removed and the upper part of the tooth shaped to receive a crown. The tooth is mounted in an aseptic casing, an antiseptic is introduced into the root canal and the casing is rotated at high speed so as to force the antiseptic into the pores. A crown is then applied to the tooth and it is replanted in the patient's mouth. After extraction of the tooth the crown is sawn off and a threaded hole is made in its top as described in Specification 134,735, [Class 81 (ii), Medical &c. appliances]. The tooth is then mounted between screws 11 projecting from the walls of a vessel 1, 2 mounted on a spindle 3 rotatable in a plate 4 carried by an adjustable work table 5 in a machine of known design. A tool chuck 6 carrying a tool 16 is controlled by pantograph mechanism 8, 9 of known type to cut the tooth to the required contour. The disinfectant is then introduced into the root canal 23, which is sealed by collodion 24. The tool chuck 6 is then connected to the vessel 1 by a clamp 17, 18 and the vessel is rapidly rotated so as to force the antiseptic into the pores of the tooth. The crown is then applied and the tooth replaced in the patient's jaw. A rubber dam 12a is employed to keep the interior of the vessel 1 in aseptic condition.
