[Class 40 (ii).] Means for supporting a flexible record disc upon a gramophone turntable comprises a plurality of springs 111, Figs. 1 and 2, secured to the turntable 110 at points around its periphery and adapted to engage with their free ends in corresponding holes provided near the rim of the record disc so as to exert a radial tension on the disc. Each spring 111 is fitted into a member 113 which is held in a tube 114, extending through the turntable and secured by a set-screw 115. The upper end of each spring 111 has a conical cap 116 to engage the hole in the record disc. If desired, the holes in the disc may.be of approximately key-hole shape so that a rotary movement of the disc relatively to the turntable will be necessary after placing the disc on the turntable in order that the disc may be held in position. In an alternative form, record-engaging springs 11, Fig. 4, are mounted in a flanged part 10 of the turntable and,are caused to be moved radially inwards to engage the holes in the record by the co-operation of special surfaces 17 on a rotatable cam ring 14 with each spring 11. The cam ring 114 is supported by pins 18 extending through slotted openings 19 in the flange 10. The rotation of the ring 14, so that the springs 11 are disengaged from the surfaces 17, causes the springs to tension the disc.
