Abstract
392,449. Electromagnets. SCHIELE & BRUCHSALERINDUSTRIEWERKE AKT.-GES., Baden-Baden, Germany. Oct. 31, 1932, No. 30692. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1931. [Class 35.] A.C. electromagnets, more particularly those employed in remotelycontrolled electromagnetic switches are, to prevent. chattering, provided at the transition of the fixed electromagnet and the movable armature with a plurality of shading rings which are arranged in such a manner that they are traversed partially by their common and partly by their proper flux. As shown in Fig. 3, the shading rings 1, 2 on the pole-piece of the fixed electromagnet D are arranged to overlap so that they each embrace a common portion of the flux 4 in addition to their own phasedisplaced fluxes #1 and #3, these being components of the main flux #2. In the modified arrangement shown in Fig. 5, one of the shading rings 1b is placed on the core D and the other 2a on the adjacent pole-piece of the armature, a similar arrangement of shading rings 1a, 2b being placed on the pole-pieces at the other ends of armature and core. A similar diversion of flux as indicated is produced as in the arrangement shown in Fig. 3.
