Abstract
Metal articles which are subject to erosion are protected by spraying with wear-resisting metals such as alloys of manganese, chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, cobalt, or the like. An intermediate coating of a metal which readily alloys with both the foundation metal and the coating metal may be provided. The article may be subjected to a heat treatment either before or after coating, the heat treatment being preferably carried out in a neutral or reducing atmosphere. The coating of turbine blades either entirely or locally, e.g. at the inlet edge, is referred to.
