Abstract

391,872. Raising liquids by adhesion apparatus. HIGHFIELD, F. G., Clanver, Green Lane, Timperley, Cheshire. Nov. 11, 1931, No. 31202. [Class 102 (ii).] Apparatus for drying sports grounds &c. wherein a roller covered with absorbent material such as " Terry " fabric, or a travelling band of absorbent material contacts with the liquid to be raised but does not touch the ground, the liquid raised being squeezed from the material by a roller. Fig. 1 shows a roller b covered with the material b<1> and mounted in a frame a mounted upon wheels a<1>. The roller e expresses the liquid into the container g. The roller may be driven by hand or motor. Fig. 4 shows an endless band b<2> replacing the roller. The band may be arranged to travel parallel to the ground. The Provisional Specification describes also apparatus comprising relays of travelling bands or drums for lifting liquid considerable heights.
