Abstract

391,731. Condensers. COLE, W. J., Fieldhead, Corkran Road, Surbiton, Surrey. Jan. 2, 1933, No. 85. [Class 38 (ii).] Rolled condensers are mounted on a central rod passed through them with springs members inserted between some or all of them. For connection in series only the springs can connect metallic washers in contact with the protruding foils at the ends of each condenser. For connection in any combination of series parallel a series of rods 3 is used. Upon each an insulating tube 2 is mounted and the condensers 1 are placed on the tubes. The spring washers 7 between each two condensers, in this case may press upon a metal washer 5 on one side and upon an insulating washer 17 on the other. In the example, two sets of series condensers are shown, the condensers on each rod being insulated from one another and the series connections being effected by metal strips 18 secured to the metal washers 5. The sets of condensers on each rod are compressed by nuts 4 and further nuts 12 may be used to secure the rods to supports 15.
