Abstract

390,859. Electric couplings. ROSSMAN PATENTS, Inc., 20, N. Wacker Drive, Chicago, U.S.A. Sept. 9, 1931, No. 25256. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1930. [Class 38 (i).] An oil-enclosed bus-bar coupling used in'an outdoor switch-gear assembly constitutes a separate oil-filled unit of the assembly which may be fixed in position while full of oil and the oil be allowed to circulate by opening control valves 400, 416. The junction between adjoining bus-bar sections is made by metal braid 373 clamped between them to provide for selfadjusting alignment. The enclosure is in two parts 387, 401 fitting into one another and clamped together with intervening insulation. One part is coupled to an oil-retaining housing 404, by means of an alignment joint 403. The housing 404 is provided with valves to control the flow of oil. Specifications 299,335 and 307,062, [both in Class 38 (i), Electric couplings &c.], are referred to.
